Trunk or Treat!

Hello! For those of you that don't know. Every year the church has a " Trunk or Treat " and the YW and YM are decorating the down stairs Young Women's room into a BIG, AMAZING, WONDERFUL, FANTASTIC, Maze!

So, this Wednesday instead of having color night we are going to have the Young Men join us and help us decorate the Young Women's room for the event.

Along with the maze, we are going to have a station outside the room so that kids could put their hand in a bowl behind a mini curtain (With a bandana covering their eyes so that they can't see) and they could guess what "Body Part" it is. (WE ARE GOING TO USE FOOD FOR THIS THAT THE YM ARE PROVIDING).

We all hope that you could make it and it's going to be plenty of fun! Make sure you dress up in your halloween costume!!

Hmm.... Divine Nature... Now what does that mean?

It is important for our young women to learn that they do have these wonderful qualities. It is important that they realize that they can choose to be a peacemaker, to be kind to others and to love others. They can choose to have charity towards others. It is also important for them to realize that it takes time and effort to develop these qualities. Very few people have these all the time naturally, but as we work on developing and focusing on these attributes, they can begin to develop them.

The value projects focus on serving others or developing skills that will help them in their own homes. The value experiences introduce the young women to these qualities by having them read scriptures and then choosing one or two qualities to work on. Each experience calls for the young woman to take time to really reflect on her actions and attitudes.

If you are working with your daughter on Personal Progress or encouraging her to work on it, you may want to have a family home evening lesson on what divine qualities are. You may also consider having your daughter teach the family home evening lesson to the family. As a family you can choose a quality to work on or have each family member choose his own quality to focus on.

It is important to develop these qualities so that we may become more like the Savior and do the things that He would have us do. As we strive to do these things it will become easier and easier until it is second nature to us. Even if we are not successful at first, we need to keep striving.

Spotlight~ Catherine Nicholson

Catherine has a lot of favorites. Her favorite color is purple (who can forget when she came to YW totally painted in purple).

Her favorite food is peanut butter and jelly; favorite song is Walk Tall You're a Daughter of God; favorite place to go is the beach.

Catherine has three brothers. Once her brother Denis was giving her a piggyback ride and ended up dislocating her shoulder!

Catherine wants to be a dentist because she was always curious about all the dental equipment when she was younger.

She has once cat and excels in Language Arts in school. J

Young Women in Excellence

Hello Young Women!

I hope that you are working on your Personal Progress because Young Women in Excellence is right around the corner!

This activity is taking place November 3rd in the Young Women's room. This is where your mothers get to see what you have been doing so far in Personal Progress, and you get to share with them what you have accomplished and present it in any way you like! What fun! We would like for each Young Woman to have at least one project done so that you can present it.

Afterwards we are going to have a game with the Young Women and the Mothers, and you are going to answer questions about each other.

To finish things off, your mothers are going to read the letters you wrote for them.

If you have not yet written a letter please talk to Sister Allen and she will be able to let you write one.

Remember! November 3rd make sure you come!!

Activities for month of October~

General Confrence- Saturday, Oct 2 and 3. There are two sessions each day, one at noon and one at 4 pm. You can watch it at the church building or online at lds.org "It is not a small thing to have a prophet among us."

Reminder: Young Womens in Excellence is in November- If you are not working yet on a Personal Progress project, be sure to choose one and get started. =)

Activities are at 6:30 pm on Wednesday

October 13th~ Prince Charming Activity

October 20th~ Pumpkin carving contest~Pumpkins are provided. Bring a knife and your personal spoon. Bishop will judge for most creative!

Spotlight~

Mandy F.

Mandy was born in Waterbury. She has brown and blonde hair. Her favorite color is dark blue and her favorite place to go is the pool or the beach, and she loves McDonalds.

A story Mandy remembers is riding on the lawn mower while her dad was mowing the lawn. She fell off and got hurt.

Mandy has two brothers and two sisters. She also has two pets- a cat named Kita and a flyfish named Fish.

She does well in math and gym at school, and when she grows up she would like to be an astronaut or a scuba diver.
